Compact Western Turkey Tour includes Istanbul, Cappadocia and Ephesus, using internal flights where possible. Starting from the former Byzantine and Ottoman capital, Istanbul, it takes in the mystic land of Cappadocia, that is traditionally mentioned in Christian sources throughout history and widely used to define a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage and the remarkable ancient city of Ephesus, one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek era. In the Roman period, Ephesus had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC, which also made it one of the largest cities in the Mediterranean world.
